He was watching traffic for the Highland Park Police Department. Suddenly, a loud crash broke the night's calm. Vanaman checked his rearview mirror. A 2021 Chevrolet Camaro had hit a planter. The car also struck a road sign and a utility pole. Vanaman radioed the crash to dispatch. He then approached the Camaro and spoke with the driver. The driver was identified as Lindsay. The officer also noticed two other cars. These cars were on Woodbridge Avenue, near S 8th Avenue. While talking to Lindsay, the officer noticed signs of something wrong. He then spoke to the drivers of a black 2011 Honda Civic and a 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The Toyota driver went to the hospital. The Honda driver felt pain but did not want to go. The probe showed Lindsay hit the Honda as it turned left onto S 8th Avenue. This impact pushed the Honda into the Toyota, which was heading the other way. The Camaro driver kept going and hit other things. Patrolman Kevin Garrity got to the scene at 10:39 PM. He was there to help with sobriety tests. Garrity spoke with Lindsay and asked if she drank anything. She said she had consumed alcohol earlier. Garrity began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Lindsay would not cooperate, so he stopped the other tests. He ended them for safety reasons. Lindsay crashed her car. The smell of alcohol was strong. She admitted to drinking. She failed the sobriety test. Police arrested her for driving under the influence. Her car was impounded per John’s Law after she was in custody. Officer Garrity took her to the station. At the station, Officer Suarez searched Lindsay. She was secured to a bench. Soon, she had a panic attack. First responders took her to the hospital for care. Officers got a warrant for a blood draw. Nurses drew her blood at the hospital. The blood sample became evidence. After paperwork, Lindsay was released to the hospital staff. Her charges were sent to her by mail. Lindsay faced serious charges. She was cited for drunk driving and reckless actions. She also had charges for drinking in the car and an open container. More citations included failure to keep right. She also drove an unregistered car with an expired license. The state criminally charged Lindsay with assault by auto. She faced two counts under 2C:12-1C(2). She faced one count under 2C:35-10A(1). Another count fell under 2C:35-10.5E(2). Court records showed a prior DWI in Clark, New Jersey. It happened on January 19, 2018. That day, she was also cited for leaving the scene of an accident. She allegedly failed to report an accident. After the Clark, New Jersey drunk driving citation, Lindsay pleaded guilty. The guilty plea for drunk driving came on September 12, 2018. 1:47 the cop in the background had a little adjustment to make 53:39 ER Tech/Nurse 1 casually ignoring 54:23 ER Nurse 2 asking Is this really real?
