Her SECOND DWI Arrest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aurlQmCDYTg Around 12:08 AM on March 15, 2023, Officer Christopher Ordway of the Denville Township Police Department was on patrol and he observed a 2021 Jeep swerving between lanes and speeding 80 MPH in a 50 MPH zone on Route 10 eastbound. He thought the driver may be driving under the influence and proceeded to activate his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Route 10 and Route 202 in Morris Plains. He approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, 20-year-old Karina Armando, along with her 21-year-old passenger Victoria Canning. The vehicle was registered to her friend Victoria, but Karina was the one driving. Victoria also told the officer that she did not have her current registration or insurance. Officer Ordway asked Karina where they were coming from, and Karina told him that they were at the Black River Barn, a popular bar in Randolph, NJ. He subsequently asked her if she had been drinking, but Karina denied consuming any alcohol in the hours prior. No field sobriety tests were administered to determine whether or not Karina was sober enough to operate a motor vehicle. Officer Ordway returned to his vehicle to run her license through the system. Her friend Victoria had also provided him with her PBA card indicating that she was the niece of a police officer. Officer Ordway decided to be lenient and only cited Karina for Careless Driving (39:4-97), which is a 2-point citation, instead of giving her a 4-point citation for speeding. He proceeded to clear the traffic stop and let her continue to drive after giving her a ticket. Records indicate that on March 28, 2023 Karina pleaded guilty to Careless Driving and paid the $88.58 fine without going to court. While Karina only received a careless driving ticket this time, she would go on to be arrested for her first DWI in Highlands, New Jersey on May 21, 2023 and her second DWI in Montville, New Jersey on July 1, 2023. Both of those DWI cases are still pending in court. --------------------------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). All videos and case documents were obtained pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq. (P.L. 2001, c. 404). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
