On May 22, 2025, Santa Fe County Sheriff's Deputy Ward observed the driver of a Mazda SUV cross over the center double yellow lane lines several times. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 63-year-old woman. The woman admitted to consuming vodka but could not remember how much she drank or when she stopped drinking. As a result, she was asked to exit her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She performed very poorly on the alternative tests that she was given and was subsequently placed under arrest. At the Sheriff's station, she provided two breath samples, which both registered 0.18% BAC. Court records show she was arrested for DUI approximately 7 weeks earlier on April 2, 2025. On December 9, 2025, both of her DUI arrests were consolidated into an amended criminal complaint. On May 26, 2026, she pleaded guilty to one of the DUI charges. Her sentence is not listed in online court records.
