Akron Police were redirected by dispatch to Crosier St. regarding an unresponsive female, later identified as Caitlyn Lewis, experiencing cardiac or respiratory arrest with CPR in progress. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate Lewis but were informed by Miranda Setree that she had been placed in a vehicle en route to the hospital. Shortly after, a white vehicle with three occupants, including David Ferrell, arrived, with Ferrell urgently seeking assistance for Lewis, whom he identified as his pregnant fiancée. Assessing Lewis's condition, officers suspected an overdose based on her appearance. As they attempted to identify the driver, Nathan Pauley, he refused and attempted to leave, leading officers to issue commands for him and Ferrell to stay. Setree also refused to provide identification and tried to leave despite orders. Ferrell fled on foot, prompting a pursuit and eventual arrest with the use of force. Initially claiming his name was Christopher Ferrell, he later revealed his true identity as David Ferrell, confirmed to have active warrants. At the hospital, Ferrell falsely claimed to have ingested Fentanyl, requiring medical attention, which was later deemed unnecessary. Meanwhile, officers identified Setree and Pauley through prior records and arrested them for obstructing an investigation and existing warrants. At the hospital, it was confirmed that Lewis had overdosed on narcotics, primarily opiates, and was resuscitated, with the baby in stable condition. Setree falsely claimed to have ingested drugs while in police custody, but medical examinations disproved her claims. Ultimately, all three suspects were transported to the Summit County Jail for their offenses.
