On April 23rd, 2023, in Roswell, New Mexico, two women were stopped by officers after being suspected of shoplifting at a store. During the traffic stop, one woman denied visiting the store, and the other was hesitant and lacked identification. Despite their denials, the officer detained them after confirming a barcode-switching incident at the store. Subsequent questioning revealed the women had been at the store, with one admitting to switching barcodes on items for a baby shower. The second woman denied the allegations but acknowledged a misunderstanding over an unscanned item. The officer suggested that security footage would be reviewed to determine the truth, hinting that paying for the items might resolve the issue without charges if the store agreed. However, it was later decided that both would face shoplifting charges, and the first suspect also had outstanding warrants for contempt of court. They were informed that they would be jailed pending a bond hearing and further legal proceedings. *Video Credits and a Huge Shoutout to:* YouTube Channel: Blue Blotters (@BlueBlotter ) We extend our heartfelt thanks to Blue Blotters for generously providing this wonderful and amazing police bodycam footage to the community.
