I responded to a welfare check regarding an infant left unattended outside a crowded expo hall. Security staff confirmed the baby was left in a carriage near the entrance for an estimated 40 minutes to an hour, contradicting the mother's claim that she was checking on the child every few minutes. The event organizer confirmed a 'no carriage/no children under 16' policy, but emphasized that no one was officially tasked with watching the unattended infant. Based on the documented evidence of the prolonged, unwatched period, and the clear lack of designated supervision, the mother was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. --------------------------------- All videos and case documents were obtained pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.
