On March 6, 2026 around 11:21 AM, Captain Victor Queiro with the North Bergen Police Department observed a woman who was asleep behind the wheel of a blue 2005 Honda Pilot on Walker Street near the intersection with Bergen Boulevard. Since this was in the neighboring town of Fairview, he called the Fairview Police Department and Officer David Marciano arrived on scene shortly afterwards. He made contact with the woman behind the wheel, who was later identified as Veronica Villalobos. Veronica told him that she was headed to the supermarket. She admitted to consuming multiple Fireballs earlier that day, and there were open containers inside her vehicle. Instead of taking responsibility for her actions, she tried blaming her actions on the fact that her husband had recently been arrested by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Based on the officers’ suspicion of impairment, Veronica was asked to perform field sobriety exercises. After Veronica refused any field sobriety testing, she was placed under arrest for operating under the influence. She was handcuffed and placed inside the patrol car. Her vehicle was impounded by for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. Veronica was transported to the Fairview Police Department for further processing. The Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to her, but she refused to submit breath samples. Once they finished processing her, Veronica was eventually released pending her court appearance. Veronica was issued the following citations: -Operating under the influence (39:4-50) -Refusal to submit to chemical test (39:4-50.4A) -Consent to take samples of breath (39:4-50.2) -Careless driving (39:4-97) -Obstructing passage of other vehicles (39:4-67) -Open container (39:5-51B) As of July 21, 2026, Veronica’s case is still pending before the Fairview Municipal Court, and her next court appearance is scheduled on September 2, 2026. ------------------------------------------ Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). (P.L. 2024, c.16). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. Central Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
