It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: It was March 16, 2024, around 2:09 AM. Hanover Township Patrolman Anthony D’Angelo drove west on Route 10. He planned to back up Patrolman Morrisroe on a DUI case. Approaching Whippany Road, he saw a Honda Civic. The car crossed the double yellow line. It drove on the wrong side of the road! D’Angelo followed the Civic. He stopped it on Whippany Road, near Fairchild Place. The driver was Alejandra, age 24. Alejandra searched for her documents. Her movements seemed slow to him. She said she was going home after dinner in Morristown. The Homestead was where she ate, a well-known bar. At first, she said she had no alcohol. Later, she admitted she drank some earlier. He thought she seemed impaired. He asked Alejandra to step out and do sobriety tests. First, D’Angelo had Alejandra do the Walk and Turn. She missed touching heel-to-toe. Also, she turned the wrong way. She could not keep her arms still. Next, she tried the One Leg Stand. She did not lift her foot right. Alejandra then failed to count as asked. She put her foot down too early. Finally, Patrolman Labracio from East Hanover Police did the HGN test. Alejandra's driving was all over the place. The strong smell of alcohol hung in the air. She even said she had been drinking. Alejandra failed the roadside tests, so police arrested her for drunk driving. After the arrest, they put her in the patrol car. Ajaco Towing took her car for 12 hours, as required by John’s Law. Patrolman D’Angelo drove Alejandra to the police station. There, she would take a breath test. Alejandra faced the Parsippany Police. She heard the Standard Statement for drivers. She agreed to give breath samples. Sergeant Prach used the Alcotest. The test showed 0.12% BAC. This was above the 0.08% legal limit. After processing, police took Alejandra to Hanover Township. There, they took photos and gave her summonses. A sober adult signed for Alejandra. He accepted the Potential Liability Warning. Then, they released Alejandra to him, pending court.
