#CrimeCamNow On May 2, 2023, A concerned neighbor called the Chamblee Police Department after spotting a woman, believed to be intoxicated, sitting in a car on her driveway with a young child. Officers arrived at the scene. The neighbor, who recorded a video of the incident, expressed concern that the woman was a habitual drinker and had seen her intoxicated before. A concerned neighbor took the young child into their home to provide comfort while police investigated. Officers first checked on the woman's well-being, offering medical assistance which she refused. The woman claimed she was simply playing a game with her son in the driveway. Officers observed damage to the car, including flat tires, that she couldn't explain. Despite denying any alcohol or drug use, she admitted to driving the car home. Due to the evidence and the child's safety concerns, the woman was arrested and placed in the back of the police vehicle. Officers contacted the child's grandmother, but she was unable to pick the child up. Fortunately, another child's relative lived nearby and was able to take temporary custody. The woman was charged with DUI, possession of an open container and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
