Bodycam footage shows Henry Chapman being confronted by Moncre Moon, who claimed the officer stole his cash. Chapman appeared defensive, but Moon persisted until other officers began questioning the situation. Chapman eventually opened the door of his patrol car and Moon pointed out a wad of $100 bills and a receipt from Wendy's, which he bought earlier that day. “It's not mine,” Chapman said. Moon said, “That's my money right there.” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police took the accusations seriously and asked Moon for his side of the story after taking him into custody for an unrelated issue. Moon explained what happened in detail, telling an officer he witnessed Chapman take the money and crumple it up before placing it in his pocket. The same officer who interviewed Moon took Chapman's firearm from him shortly after. Chapman allegedly admitted to taking the money but said he wasn't stealing it, according to the affidavit. Chapman was charged with embezzlement and resigned the following day.
