On January 1, 2025, at approximately 0250 hours, an officer responded to a report of trespassing on private property at a local bed and breakfast. Upon arrival, the officer observed a male subject walking westbound on the 600 block. Based on dispatch information, the subject matched the description provided in the call notes (a white male in his mid-30s, wearing red shorts and a blue shirt). The officer approached the subject to speak with him. The individual appeared intoxicated, as indicated by his slurred speech, erratic behavior, and difficulty standing. The subject interrupted the officer repeatedly and refused to allow the officer to speak. After informing the subject that he was being detained, the officer instructed him to place his hands behind his back. When the officer attempted to handcuff him, the subject pulled away aggressively. The officer then secured the subject in a controlled manner, guiding him to the ground. Once on the ground, the subject resisted commands to place his hands behind his back. After several moments of struggle, the officer was able to handcuff the subject's left hand, and the subject eventually complied with placing his right hand behind his back. A pat-down was conducted, and the subject was seated on the arrest form while the officer maintained control. The officer asked for the subject's name, and he identified himself. The officer confirmed his identity through dispatch. Another officer went to the bed and breakfast to meet with the manager, who reported concerns about the subject's behavior. Upon arrival, the manager observed the subject playing loud music at a computer. The subject expressed a desire to "complete one last task." The manager noted that the subject appeared heavily intoxicated and stated that he was no longer welcome on the property. Additional officers arrived on the scene and transported the subject to the detention center.
