Around 11:39 PM on April 19, 2025, Officer Shane McCarthy with the Lakewood Police Department responded observed a white 2002 Chrysler van driving east on Detroit Avenue near W Clifton Boulevard. The vehicle had 2 flat tires, and he observed the driver make a left turn traveling north onto W Clifton Boulevard from Detroit Avenue. The driver eventually pulled into the Marathon gas station at 18100 Sloane Avenue. Officer McCarthy exited his vehicle and made contact with the driver of the Chrysler, who was identified as 22-year-old Cheyenne Greathouse. Cheyenne told the officer that she was coming from the Mercury Lounge located at 18206 Detroit Avenue. It seemed like the vehicle had been involved in an accident earlier that evening. As he was speaking with her, Officer McCarthy detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. She admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that evening. After Officers Flowers and Bry arrived on scene to assist, Cheyenne was asked to perform field sobriety exercises. Officer McCarthy started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer McCarthy observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. He also observed vertical nystagmus. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test, and she did not touch heel-to-toe on each step. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Cheyenne failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. Based on her 2 flat tires, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer McCarthy placed Cheyenne under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). After she was placed under arrest, Cheyenne did answer a few questions. She was transported to the Lakewood Police Department for further processing. At the station, the ALS form was read to her, and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her breathalyzer results indicated a BAC level of 0.107 g/210L, which was over than the legal limit of 0.08%. After Cheyenne was processed, she was issued citations for OVI (4511.19) and driving an unsafe vehicle (337.01) and released pending her court appearance. A few months earlier, Cheyenne had been arrested for another OVI in Painesville, Ohio. ------------------------------------------------ Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
