It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On March 6, 2024, at 3:34 PM, officers responded to a crash. Officer Barberan and Corporals Steckel and Fandel arrived. A 2021 Cadillac Escalade hit a utility pole. It happened on Oakdale Road. The Cadillac struck the pole on its passenger side. The damage was severe. Airbags had deployed inside the vehicle. Officer Barberan approached the driver, Jordyn. She said she was picking up her child. She explained she dropped her phone. While trying to grab it, she crashed. She first gave the officer a credit card. He asked for her license. Two witnesses in the car behind her had video. They saw her swerve. She drove into the oncoming lane. Then she hit the pole. Officer Barberan did not smell alcohol. However, he saw other signs. These signs pointed to impairment. Because of the crash and airbags, medics came. Jordyn refused more medical care. The officers then started field sobriety tests. Corporal Fandel began the eye test. Officer Barberan then did the walk and turn. Jordyn's steps were not heel-to-toe. She also turned the wrong way. The last test was standing on one foot. Jordyn could not lift her foot properly. The crash and failed tests led to her arrest. Officer Barberan took her to the police station. There, she heard the Standard Statement. She agreed to a breath test. Her breath test showed a BAC of 0.00%. Even with a 0.00% BAC, they suspected impairment. A drug recognition expert was called. Sergeant Ambrosi came to the station. Jordyn also gave a urine sample. Her urine test later showed Alprazolam. Jordyn was released later. She will have a court date. Officer Barberan issued several tickets. These included DUI and reckless driving. Others were for failing to stay in her lane. Records show Jordyn pleaded guilty on October 3, 2024. She admitted to driving under the influence. The court ordered her to use an ignition interlock device. This lasted for 3 months. She also had to attend an impaired driver program.
