The car was heading north on Norwood Avenue. Redy followed it and stopped the driver near Norwood and Park Avenues in Long Branch. He approached the driver, 28-year-old Aymira Rivera-Torres, and asked for her papers. She refused at first. She later said she had been with friends in Asbury Park but would not say where. Rivera-Torres eventually handed over her license. Redy returned to his cruiser to check her information. Suspecting she was impaired, he called for help. Sergeant Brad Kerney and Patrolman Noah DeFazio arrived soon after. They asked Rivera-Torres to step out and perform sobriety tests, but she delayed. She completed the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, and both officers saw signs of impairment. She resisted when they asked her to take more tests. After several attempts, officers arrested her for driving while impaired. Before she was placed in the patrol car, Rivera-Torres said she was pregnant and needed to go to a hospital. First responders examined her, but she refused a ride. Her Toyota was towed and held for 12 hours under John's Law. Redy then took her to the Deal station for booking. At the station, officers read her the standard statement given to drivers. She refused to provide valid breath samples. After the paperwork was finished, a sober friend picked her up at about 3:10 a.m. He signed the liability warning for her. Rivera-Torres received tickets for driving under the influence, refusing a chemical test, reckless driving, careless driving, speeding, and driving without registration. Her prior arrests include disorderly conduct in Long Branch on March 20, 2022; aggravated assault on a police officer in Long Branch on March 12, 2022; simple assault in Long Branch on March 31, 2016; disorderly conduct in Neptune Township on March 16, 2016; shoplifting in West Long Branch on February 23, 2016; and hindering apprehension in Little Silver on September 14, 2015. She also has older speeding tickets from Colts Neck, Wall, Ocean Township, Marlboro Township, and Oceanport. Oceanport. If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
