On February 16, 2025, at approximately 12:17 a.m., Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a 2023 Kia blasting down the road at over 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. When they approached the driver, the smell of alcohol was overwhelming, her speech was slurred, and her excuse was unbelievable — she wasn’t from the area, had recently undergone a corneal transplant, and was driving at night with only one contact lens. Her blood alcohol content? 0.24% — triple the legal limit. This DUI arrest escalated quickly, and her passenger didn’t fare much better, ending up in handcuffs for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
