On July 10, 2025, Verona Police responded to a late-night crash involving a green Ford Explorer that struck a paving truck on Mount Prospect Avenue. Inside the vehicle were 20-year-old Leeannett Rivera and her passenger Kennedy Jackson. Airbags deployed, injuries were reported, and officers quickly suspected alcohol involvement. Field sobriety tests revealed clear signs of impairment, leading to Leeannett’s arrest for DWI. Her BAC later tested at 0.18%, and multiple traffic citations were issued. Kennedy also faced summonses for alcohol-related violations. Both eventually pleaded guilty to certain charges, resulting in fines and mandatory intoxicated driver programs.
