Upon arrival, officers located the individual, later identified as 39-year-old Jean Miranda of West New York, who was being detained by store security. An on-scene investigation revealed Miranda was seen taking items from shelves and putting them into a bag, before pretending to pay and then attempting to leave. When security stopped him at the exit, Miranda tried to flee with the stolen items that added up to approximately $170, but he was unsuccessful, and store security held him until the police arrived. He was arrested and charged with robbery. It was found Miranda had warrants out of Union City. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
