Around 8:23 PM on September 25, 2025, Officer Tyler Van Riper, Officer Derek Koppinger, Corporal Anthony Costantino, and Sergeant Derek Heymer with the Washington Township Police Department (Morris County) were dispatched to the parking lot of the Long Valley Brew Pub (1 Fairmount Road) on a report of a hit-and-run involving a white SUV. Corporal Costantino located a white 2007 Honda CR-V matching their description in the vicinity of 37 Fairmount Road, and initiated a traffic stop. He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, who was eventually identified as Adriana Fritzky. Adriana’s vehicle had sustained severe front-end damages. It was determined that her vehicle had struck a parked 2024 BMW as well as a parked 2018 Audi Q5 in the parking lot of the bar before backing into a retaining wall and attempting to flee the scene. As Corporal Costantino was speaking with Adriana, he detected the faint odor of alcohol and observed multiple indicators of impairment. Adriana admitted to consuming 3 Chardonnays at the Chesapeake Tavern earlier that evening. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Adriana was eventually asked to perform field sobriety exercises after additional officers arrived on scene to assist. The first exercise was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Adriana failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step, turned improperly, and took an incorrect number of steps. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, but she failed to follow instructions during this test. Based the motor vehicle crash resulting in damages to 3 vehicles, her admission to consuming alcohol earlier that evening, and her poor performance on the field sobriety exercises, Adriana was placed under arrest for DWI. Her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John’s Law. Adriana was transported to the Washington Township Police Department for further processing. At the station, the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to her, and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.18%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After they finished processing Adriana, she was released to her husband Richard Fritzky pending her court appearance after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Adriana’s behalf. Officer Van Riper issued Adriana the following traffic tickets: -Operating under the influence (39:4-50) -Reckless driving (39:4-96) -Careless driving (39:4-97) -Traffic on marked lanes (39:4-88) -Failure to keep right (39:4-82) -Leaving the scene of an accident involving damages to an unattended vehicle (39:4-129D) -Failure to report accident (39:4-130) Court records indicate that on March 19, 2026, Adriana was found guilty of operating under the influence, failure to report accident, and careless driving. As a result of her convictions, Adriana had to spend 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center and pay a total of $1,020 in fines. The other 4 citations were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. ---------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). (P.L. 2001, c. 404). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
