On May 8, 2025, a DUI arrest in Clark County, Washington, escalated into a deadly confrontation. Deputy Bryson Layton of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office fatally stabbed 54-year-old Marc Fogle after a violent struggle inside a Washington State Patrol weigh station breath test room in Ridgefield. Fogle, arrested earlier that evening for crashing into parked vehicles, reportedly tried to grab the deputy’s firearm after saying, “My life is over.” Moments leading up to the altercation were captured on bodycam, but the footage cuts off during the struggle. The Clark County Medical Examiner ruled Fogle’s death a homicide caused by multiple stab wounds.
