Around 12:44 AM on April 28, 2023, Patrolman Chris Pollack of the Riverdale Police Department observed a white 2023 Maserati weaving between the lanes on Interstate 287 southbound in the vicinity of mile marker 52.6. He wanted to ensure that the driver was not drunk, so he advised dispatch that he would be stopping the vehicle. After he activated his lights, the vehicle pulled over at mile marker 53.1. Patrolman Pollack proceeded to make contact with the driver, who was identified as Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ) star Teresa Giudice. He inquired about the temporary Pennsylvania tags and told Teresa that she had been drifting between the lanes and asked her for her documentation. Teresa responded that she had just bought this new Maserati because her car had been stolen. Teresa gave him her license, and she also offered the cop “family business cards” before he returned to his patrol vehicle. Patrolman Pollack declined those “family business cards” and returned to his patrol vehicle to run her license through the system. After he ran her license, he generated a citation for failure to maintain lane (39:4-88), but told Teresa that it was going to be a “warning” instead. The officer also told Teresa that he had stopped the vehicle because he wanted to ensure that she was not drunk. He did not suspect driver impairment, so no field sobriety exercises were administered. After Patrolman Pollack returned to his patrol car, he voided the citation and a note was made in the system that Teresa would only be issued a “warning” because the citation had been voided.
