#CrimeCamNow On April 12th, 2023, a Chamblee police officer spotted a vehicle swerving all over the road, failing to use turn signals, and failing to maintain the lane. The officer pulled the vehicle over and explained to the female driver the reason for the stop. The driver, who was from New York, denied having anything to drink despite the erratic driving. The officer, suspecting DUI, requested her to step out of the car for a further evaluation. Another officer arrived to assist with the evaluation. Throughout the interaction, the driver kept insisting that New York has different rules than Georgia, which confuses the officer. She agreed to take a breathalyzer test. It came back with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.147.This was significantly higher than the legal limit of 0.08 in Georgia. Despite the evidence, the driver continued to deny consuming any alcohol. The officers, following protocol, asked her to participate in field sobriety exercises. She agreed, and her performance further confirmed their suspicions.As a result, she was arrested for DUI. After being advised of her Miranda rights, she agreed to further testing at the station.A search of her vehicle revealed a gun, despite her denying having any such weapon. She was then transported to the police station for testing. The breathalyzer test there showed a BAC of 0.126, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08. Charged with DUI, she was subsequently transported to the Dekalb County Jail.
