Around 8:26 PM on April 8, 2023, Patrolman Cullen Rutter with the Somerdale Police Department observed a gray 2022 Hyundai Tucson run a stop sign and nearly strike his patrol car in the vicinity of E Crestwood Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. The driver headed towards the gate of the public works parking lot, and then attempt to turn around. Around this time, he saw the vehicle run off the roadway and become disabled in a ditch. He then walked towards her vehicle and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Kirsten Sanders. As he was speaking with Kirsten, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Based on their suspicion of impairment, Kirsten was asked to perform field sobriety exercises. Her poor performance on the field sobriety exercises confirmed the officers’ suspicion of impairment. Based on her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Kirsten was placed under arrest for DWI. Around this time, she mentioned that her brother-in-law Pietro Mannino was a Detective with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. Her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John’s Law. The Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to her inside the patrol car, and she agreed to submit breath samples. She was then transported to the Stratford Police Department for the administration of the breath test. Kirsten’s Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.16%, which was double the legal limit of 0.08%. After the Alcotest was complete, Kirsten was transported to the Somerdale Police Department for further processing. After they finished their paperwork, she was eventually released to Amanda Paciocco pending her court appearance after the signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Kirsten’s behalf. Kirsten was issued the following citations: -Operating under the influence (39:4-50) -Reckless driving (39:4-96) -Careless driving (39:4-97) Court records indicate that on July 25, 2023, Kirsten was found guilty of operating under the influence As a result of her convictions, Kirsten had to spend 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center, use an ignition interlock device for 3 months, and pay a total of $640 in fines.
