On January 15, 2024, Kent State University Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle. When Officer Cevasco arrived, he noticed a vehicle that had apparently hit a curb and had four flat tires. The 20 year-old driver blamed her deflated tires on the cold weather. She was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was arrested for drunk driving and transported to the police station. She submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.186% BAC (more than 9 times the legal limit for someone under 21 years of age). She received a citation for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI), having a BAC over 0.17, and failing to control her vehicle. Her case is still open. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
