On November 4, 2025 at approximately 3:59 PM, Officer Gross and Officer Godinho with the St. Charles Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody at Walmart on 150 Smith Road. They arrived on scene and made contact with a loss prevention employee. They were informed that a woman attempted to steal a total of $778.51 worth of baseball and football cards by concealing them inside a duffel bag. The alleged thief was identified as Karalyn Ruth Gross. Officer Gross reviewed the receipt and the surveillance footage, while Officer Godinho saw that they had a cart full of trading cards outside the loss prevention office. The receipt indicated that she attempted to steal 11 packs of Panini Donruss NFL cards worth $59.87 each and 3 Topps Chrome Baseball MLB cards worth $39.98 each. The surveillance footage revealed that Karalyn allegedly entered with a male accomplice, but he left the store before she attempted to steal the cards. She was apprehended in the vestibule before the police were called to the store. Since the store decided to press charges, Karalyn was placed under arrest for Felony Retail Theft. She was placed in the patrol car and transported to the St. Charles Police Department for further processing. DuPage County Felony Screening was contacted and ASA Eric Vincent approved 1 charge of Class 3 Felony Retail Theft (720 ILCS 5/16-25(a)(1)). Karalyn was then given a court date of December 4, 2025 and released on her own recognizance. ------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
