🚨 Trooper Fires Shots After Suspect Rams Patrol Car | Arkansas State Police Pursuit On October 12, 2021, a routine traffic stop quickly turned violent when Joseph VanCamp fled from Seth Smedley of the Arkansas State Police. After being asked to exit his pickup, VanCamp sped off then stopped and reversed directly into the trooper’s patrol unit. What followed was a dangerous escalation, with the suspect ramming the patrol vehicle multiple times. During the confrontation, Trooper Smedley fired six shots at the vehicle as the suspect continued to flee. The pursuit lasted nearly 20 minutes before coming to a dramatic end at Highway 26 and Hare Lane, where a Precision Intervention Technique (PIT maneuver) was used to stop the truck. VanCamp attempted to run but was quickly taken into custody. Investigators later found multiple bullet holes in the rear window of the pickup, including one round lodged in the headrest.
