#CrimeCamNow On August 16, 2023, a Chamblee police officer on patrol spotted a vehicle making an illegal U-turn in Chamblee, Georgia. The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over and continued driving. Backup units were dispatched, and officers eventually boxed in the vehicle, forcing it to stop. When the officer instructed the driver to step out of the vehicle, he pretended not to understand what was happening and refused to comply. After repeated commands, officers shattered the driver’s window and removed him from the vehicle. He was handcuffed without incident. When asked why he didn’t stop, the driver claimed he didn’t realize the officers were trying to pull him over and thought they were "doing something else." A search of the vehicle yielded nothing suspicious. Officers were baffled that such a pursuit stemmed from a simple traffic violation. The driver, a sober 30-year-old, denied consuming any alcohol and agreed to take a breathalyzer test, which registered triple zeros. Despite being sober, the driver’s actions remained inexplicable to officers, as an illegal U-turn would have resulted in just a ticket. He was charged with making an improper U-turn, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving without a valid driver’s license and was transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
