#CrimeCamNow On July 7, 2023, Chamblee police officers responded to a call about another package theft at a local condominium building in Chamblee, Georgia. Multiple residents shared surveillance footage showing two individuals stealing packages from the building. Officers quickly spotted a suspect nearby who matched the description. When questioned about his involvement and the whereabouts of his alleged accomplice, the man denied knowing anyone else, claiming he had just met the person. He insisted he had only bought a bike from the individual for $15 and had no idea what was happening. The suspect was placed in handcuffs, advised of his Miranda rights, and put into the back of a police vehicle. Initially refusing to cooperate, he later changed his mind and decided to talk. Despite officers telling him they had video evidence of him using a crowbar to break into mailboxes, the suspect continued to deny involvement, repeating his story about meeting the individual and purchasing the bike. A detective arrived on the scene and questioned the man again. When asked to unlock his phone, the suspect complied, revealing messages between him and the other individual that suggested a deeper connection. During a search of the suspect, officers discovered multiple credit cards in different names, which he claimed to have found near the train station. He was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and financial transaction card theft before being transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
