Officer Ryan spoke with the caller, who reported that a black Volvo SUV hit his vehicle on the 300 block in Boonton. Officer Rizzo later found the suspected Volvo in Tourne County Park. Upon reaching the vehicle, Officer Rizzo encountered the driver, Kira. Kira told Officer Rizzo that she believed she had hit something and that another car was trailing her. He observed damage on the passenger side of her car and smelled alcohol while talking with her. Officer Ryan came to help after finishing his conversation with the caller. Because the event took place in Boonton, their agency was alerted, and Sergeant Mondino also arrived to get an update on the situation. Sergeant Chicoris noticed signs that Kira might be impaired. He told Officer Ryan to ask her to step out of the car and perform some sobriety tests. Officer Ryan began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Next, he had Kira do the One Leg Stand and Walk and Turn tests. Kira appeared confused by the instructions, so Sergeant Chicoris asked her to try the Walk and Turn and One Leg Stand tests again. Unfortunately, Kira struggled and could not complete the tests successfully. Kira was arrested after a motor vehicle accident. The smell of alcohol and signs of impairment led to her being charged with driving under the influence. Corigliano Towing took her vehicle, which would be held for 12 hours as required by John’s Law. Officer Rizzo handcuffed Kira, informed her of her rights, and took her to the Boonton Township Police Department for processing. Kira was searched by Officer Nicole Montemorano at the Boonton Township Police Department. She agreed to take breath tests, and the Alcotest showed her blood alcohol concentration to be 0.31%. This level is nearly four times the legal limit of 0.08%. After processing, Kira was released to her husband, who signed a Potential Liability Warning form for her. Officer Rizzo issued her citations for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and careless driving. The Town of Boonton also gave her tickets for careless driving, failing to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident that caused property damage. On May 16, 2023, court records show Kira was convicted of driving under the influence. Because of this, her driver's license was taken away for four months. She also had to use an ignition interlock device for nine months and complete 12 hours at a resource center for intoxicated drivers. Kira faced $890 in fines, but other charges were dropped due to a plea deal. Later, on November 30, 2023, she was arrested again for driving while intoxicated in Chester Township, New Jersey. She crashed into a bridge with a blood alcohol level nearly five times the legal limit at 0.373%. Her case from Chester Township was resolved in court on September 19, 2024. 38:10 Must be a PIA for female cops to have to respond If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
