Incident Information: On April 6th, 2025, Ingham County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to US-127 for several 911 calls regarding a man walking on the shoulder with no vehicles nearby. Upon arrival, the first deputy noted the man was armed with two knives. He attempted to de-escalate for several minutes and gave over a dozen commands for the suspect to drop the knife. With more officers on scene, a Mason PD Officer attempted deployment of the TASER 10, which was ineffective. The suspect then began sprinting towards officers and deputies, prompting the initial responding deputy to open fire. The Michigan AGs Office concluded their investigation on March 4th, 2026, and found the deputy acted within self defense and/or defense of another. The investigation has since been closed, and public materials associated with the case were released to us.
