Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 2:08 a.m. on September 14, 2024, Sergeant Joseph Barnicle of the Shrewsbury Police saw a 2008 Dodge heading south on Broad Street without its headlights on. He pulled it over near Obre Place and went to speak with the driver, 22-year-old Carly. As they talked, Barnicle smelled alcohol and noticed signs of impairment. Carly gave him her papers, and he called Patrolman Boehler to assist. Suspecting she might be impaired, he asked her to step out and take field sobriety tests. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, her eyes failed to track smoothly and jerked at full turn. The jerking began before her eyes reached 45 degrees. She then struggled with the Walk and Turn, missing heel-to-toe steps and making an incorrect turn. On the One Leg Stand, she did not raise her foot properly and put it down early. The alcohol odor and her test results led Barnicle to arrest Carly for drunk driving. Officers impounded her car for 12 hours under John's Law, then took her to the station for booking. At the station, officers read her the standard rights for drivers. Carly agreed to a breath test, which showed a blood alcohol level of 0.25%, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08%. Afterward, officers released her to a sober friend, who signed the liability warning on her behalf.
