#CrimeCamNow On December 3, 2022, Dunwoody police officers were called to Perimeter Mall in Atlanta, Georgia, regarding a fight between women. Upon arrival, officers first spoke with a mother and daughter, who were accompanied by a small child. The mother explained that she was driving her daughter and grandchild to work when they nearly got into a fender bender with another vehicle in the mall parking lot. According to their account, the other female driver exited her vehicle and began yelling and calling them names. Later, the two groups crossed paths again inside the mall, where another verbal exchange took place. The daughter claimed that the other woman hit her mother first, leading to the fight. Next, officers spoke with the other woman involved in the altercation, who provided a very different version of events. She claimed that the daughter threw a drink at her, instigating the fight, and that the mother joined in shortly afterward. Security guards and the brother of the woman with the child, who happened to be at the mall, intervened to break up the fight. Security informed officers that surveillance footage was available to confirm the sequence of events. After reviewing the footage, officers confirmed that the daughter had thrown a drink at the other woman, initiating the fight, and the mother later joined her. Both the mother and daughter were arrested. They appeared confused and repeatedly insisted that the other woman had attacked them first, but the video evidence clearly contradicted their claims. Officers took photos of the victim’s injuries, and the child was released to her brother, who worked at the mall. To prevent any further confrontation, officers asked the victim to leave the mall for the remainder of the day. Officers showed leniency by charging them with disorderly conduct instead of simple assault. They were then transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
