On May 2, 2025, near The Battery in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, chaos erupted when police responded to reports of a naked man screaming in the streets. That man turned out to be William Mullins McLeod Jr. — a Charleston attorney, former gubernatorial candidate in 2010, and now the first Democrat to announce a run for governor in the upcoming election. According to police, McLeod appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant or narcotic. He was arrested after officers found him yelling incoherently and making wild statements about his political ambitions. In the back of a patrol car, McLeod continued to shout insults, make bizarre claims, and declare his intentions to run for governor once again. McLeod was charged with disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. He spent the night in jail before bonding out on a personal recognizance bond. His next court date has yet to be announced, but political analysts are already weighing in on how this arrest could derail his campaign. 📺 Watch until the end for the unfiltered transport footage to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
