On January 2, 2025, Lakewood Police Officer Nikolic observed a speeding vehicle that also failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 23-year-old woman. The woman denied consuming any alcohol, but admitted to coming from a bar. The police report indicates that Officer Nikolic observed slurred speech and watery eyes. He asked the woman to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was ultimately arrested for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). The police report indicates that she was previously arrested for OVI in 2018 and 2024. At the police station, she refused to provide a breath sample. She was charged with OVI, refusal to submit to testing, driving under OVI suspension, speeding, and failing to stop at a stop sign. Her case remains open and her next court date is April 7, 2025. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
