buymeacoffee.com/BlueLineLens This video details the police response and investigation into a retail theft that occurred on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Walmart on West Market Street. The incident began when Officer Swartzentruber and Officer Gaffney were dispatched to the scene, where a suspect had allegedly stolen over $300 worth of merchandise. Walmart Asset Protection provided security video showing the suspect taking a Hart 1/2" Impact Wrench, a Hart 3 Tool Combo Kit, and a men's jacket, concealing them under the jacket in his shopping cart, and leaving the store without paying. Surveillance then showed the suspect loading the stolen items into a Chevrolet Tahoe before the vehicle drove away. Other officers located the Tahoe, and the driver directed police to the Red Roof Inn, where he dropped the suspect off. A few hours later, in the early hours of January 9, police confirmed the suspect was renting Room 254 at the Red Roof Inn and, after obtaining a search warrant, officers entered the room. They found the stolen items recovered (including one power tool kit hidden in a mini-fridge) and located him hiding under the bed. He was arrested and transported to the McLean County Jail on charges including Felony Retail Theft and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. #walmart #crime #news
