Clear signs banned U-turns. Yet a driver in a gray 2025 Hyundai Sonata swung an illegal U-turn from the southbound lane. The car headed north into Sea Bright. Beringer flipped on her lights. The driver pulled over near Ocean Avenue and Imbrie Place. She stepped out and met the driver, Samantha Abruzzo-Delmauro. As Beringer neared, alcohol scent hit her. Samantha showed signs of impairment. She fumbled for her papers. She said she came from Rooney’s Oceanfront Restaurant in Long Branch. At first, she denied drinking. Later, she admitted to one glass of wine that night. Beringer went back to her car to run the license. Suspicion grew. She told Samantha to step out for sobriety tests. First came the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Beringer saw no smooth eye pursuit. Samantha refused to cooperate more. Next was the Walk and Turn. Then the One Leg Stand. Samantha ignored instructions on both. The U-turn broke traffic laws. Alcohol smell lingered. She admitted the wine. Tests failed. Beringer ordered her out for a DWI arrest. Samantha balked. She wouldn't leave the car. Beringer tried many times. Finally, she pulled Samantha out by force. A short fight followed. Samantha went into the patrol car. Her Hyundai got towed for a 12-hour hold under John’s Law. Beringer drove her to the station. There, they read the Standard Statement for drivers. Samantha agreed to breath tests. Her Alcotest showed 0.047% BAC. Over zero, under 0.08%. They processed her. Then released her to a sober adult. She signed the Potential Liability Warning for court later. Beringer gave these tickets: Operating under influence (39:4-50) Reckless driving (39:4-96) Careless driving (39:4-97) Improper U-turn (39:4-125) Samantha faced criminal charges for resisting arrest (2C:29-2A(1)). Before this, she got a careless driving ticket in West Long Branch on July 18, 2025. Earlier, expired license in Long Branch on July 14. And another expired license in Little Silver on July 1. After, careless driving hit in Long Branch on September 25. Then arrest for stalking (2C:12-10B) and harassment (2C:33-4C) in Oceanport on October 22. 0:38 She went Reno 911 there. 24:20 I guess getting out of the car willingly would have been a good option?
