The location was Dollar Tree on East Main Street. A shoplifter was trying to drive away. An employee stopped the officers. He said the items were recovered. He was worried about the woman. He thought she might be drunk. The officers met the woman. Her name was Rebecca Sullivan. Rebecca said she was not impaired. The officers asked her to do some tests. She showed signs of being drunk. First, she did the Walk and Turn test. Rebecca did not step heel-to-toe. Her steps were wrong. She did not turn correctly. Next was the One Leg Stand test. Rebecca could not lift her foot right. She put her foot down too soon. Finally, the Romberg test. Rebecca thought 25 seconds passed. It had been 42 seconds. The witness said Rebecca seemed drunk. She admitted to driving. She failed the sobriety tests. Officer Tavarone arrested Rebecca for drunk driving. Her car was impounded for 12 hours. Denville's breath test machine was broken. Officer Tavarone took Rebecca to Parsippany. At the station, Rebecca heard the warning. She agreed to breath tests. Her breath alcohol level was 0.00%. The officers still thought she was impaired. They took her back to Denville. Sheriff Joseph Abrusci, a DRE, evaluated her. Sheriff Abrusci confirmed Rebecca was impaired. Rebecca’s mother took her home. She signed papers for Rebecca. Officer Tavarone cited Rebecca. She was charged with drunk driving, reckless driving, and careless driving. Court papers show Rebecca was arrested before. On December 20, 2023, she stole from T.J.
